water- when i use stoma paste, if i don't get my fingertips wet before i touch it then it is really sticky and gross...a stoma nurse told me to get my fingers wet and i tried it and it worked great. i'm sposed to put the paste on (which is just like an eakin seal only messier) and then get my finger wet to push it around..then i wait 30 seconds for it to get tacky and then slap the wafer on. i thought it would be bad to get any water near it but it doesn't really get that wet from having damp fingers touch it, and since i wait a few seconds before applying the wafer i guess it has time to air dry too. it works great for me. my stoma nurse (a different nurse) also told me that some people put the eakin seal on the wafer and then slap that on as one piece...
take care

Water will actually keep the eakin from sticking as well to the wafer. The best thing to do is to handle the eakin primarily by the edges. Manipulate it as little as possible. Putting the eakin on the wafer first can help, but I find it best to fit the Eakin directly on my skin because it gives me the best seal.
Where are you keeping your eakins? It sounds like they may be in a warm or humid location. They shouldn't be so sticky that you can't handle them enough to position them. Try putting them in a cool dry place until you need them.
