Okay, so I have a yeast infection under my appliance and it's really itchy and it oozes and smells. I've been to see my WOCN twice and she swears it's clearing up, but it's not clearing up quick enough!!!!

not sure if this will help...but i currently have my second ileostomy. i had no yeast infections and no allergies with the first one. but with this one, i have found i am allergic to the tape on the bag (same brand as last time!) and the skin prep wipes as well...the reaction from my skin i believe cause the yeast infection which took about a month to go away! all the nystatin creams, powders, myconozole creams, all didnt work. but as soon as i stopped using the wipes, and cutting the tape off my bag (simultaneously stopping the treatments) everything got better in about a week. so, are you positive it isnt an allergy??

I had the same problem.. I developed an allergy to a product that I had already used for several weeks.
I did the same thing- I cut off the adhesive section around the bag and used friendlier tape. I also had to use a belt for while, but the allergy cleared up. At one point I used a bag that has no adhesive ( forgot the name) that helped too. I ended up having to change much more frequently, but if this is a temporary ileo then it won't be forever. |
