Remember how few people you could find in your situation when you were going through this Shell? I remember feeling before my removal that I must have been out of my mind for choosing what I did (never felt that way since). Not that I"m happy people have had problems, but I'm glad to have such wonderful company in our "club"!

Good luck with your surgery Gary. Here's to wishing you a speedy recovery and a complete return to the life you want and deserve.

Hi Gary,
Good luck on the up coming op, If you get along as well with the ileo as I and many others here that do, you'll be back to living life and healthy again in no time at all.

Take care and a speedy recovery to you...

Jason, Jason, you should be President of our club! I include anyone who goes to an ileo (whether or not their pouch comes out) as part of the club...

Jill, I remember just how much support you and the other Gill (Welsh Witch) gave me back then and I am just so grateful that I had you both there to talk me through and ease my fears. Without this wonderful site I would probably still be listening to my surgeon and "trying one last thing" to make my disfunctional j-pouch work. Jill you in particular gave me the courage to make my surgeon listen to me. You made me realise that this was my body and that I didn't have to accept that my surgeon knew what was best for me because he wasn't the one living in this body.

I also think we were both so fortunate to have the wonderful support from the all good people on this site even though most of them (thankfully) would never have to go through what we went through..

Jason, I think you should be our leader. After all you've managed to pack in the most stomas in the shortest time. Big Grin

LOL.. Ya, I have stoma scars everywhere... Then again this last one is JUST IN THE RIGHT SPOT - even though its on the wrong side LOL!
I agree, without you, Jill and others here to help me make a decision and to help me sort out things at first, this would have been a harder decision - the right one but much harder!

THanks Shell...I just remember how hard it was to feel I was the only one going through these problems and I wanted (and want) to support anyone else who is facing these issues. Plus, you make some great friends along the way Smiler

Hey, I'm in the club too!! I haven't been part of a "club" in years. What a funny one to belong to. Only my fellow pouchers (or ileo'ers would understand). I've had my second temp loop ileo for 5 months now and don't see trying to reconnect at this point. Maybe someday I'll decide to but right now the pain and reason for the temp is still there and at least feels much better with the ileo. Only problem I've got now is a nasty rash/yeast problem going on around my wafer which is driving me MAD!!!!

Other than that, all is going well (knock on wood!)

Temp loop ileo again: August 15th, 2007 - due to unknown pouch pain.

Dear All;

It is feb 21 and saw dr yesterday and he is amazed at my progress .
He took out half the stitches in bottom and stated stomach is clearing well.

I have one issue that I would like input if someone has had same issue.
When i stand to pee i get a very bad stomach pain and left side sticks out some ,I can only pee laying down and going into a urinal.
Igo infor a cat scan monday but wonder if someone (male) has had this and what it turned out to be.

Thanks Gary

Hi Gary,

I know I'm not a guy but I did have some issues with passing urine after I had my j-pouch removed. Not only was it very painful to pee I also had to put myself into a very strange position before I could go. On top of that I couldn't empty properly and had to self-catheterise to make sure the bladder was fully empty. This did resolve in time (about 2-3 months) so I wouldn't worry too much just now. However, I do think it would be wise to see a urologist at this point just to make sure and put your mind at rest. It could just be that you will have to self-catheterise for a little while too.

It is really good to hear that you are doing well otherwise though so keep up the good work and keep us posted. Smiler

Take care Smiler
