My four year old who is mostly tube fed and eats very little solid food has been complaining more and more of stomach pain after less than a full feed. Any thoughts?

Hi Laura,
It could be something a minor as the feeding being pushed to quickly for him, or that the tube feeding is to cool and is causing cramping. See if you can slow the feeding a little and/or let it warm up just a bit before feeding. Do you check the residual volume before the feeding? He may not be processing as quickly as the docs thought. Experiment for a day or two, but if those don't work, call the doc. Best of luck, Cheryl May 7, 2007: Step 1 May 29: Bowel Obstruction June 5, 2007: Step 2, take-down April 8, 2008: Perm. Thanks Cheryl. What do you mean by checking the residual volume?
Max has been on the same feeding regiment for some time now as far as the rate and amounts go. His formula is kept at room temp too. Last night he had a little bit of vomiting and then slept fine but his ostomy output was way high this am. More than what he usually has in a whole day so I called the doc and am just waiting for a call back. I have him just on pedialyte right now.
