So, I was playing indoor soccer the other night, and I took a soccer ball (kicked fairly hard) right in the stoma. It didn't hurt, but I got subbed out and ran to check for leaks, blood, and swelling. The only real effect was that every muscle between my ribs and pelvis involuntarily clenched. The next morning, they were still clenched. That was... painful.

So, I want to play soccer again (I leave in 15 minutes), but I think I need some sort of pad or something to wear on top of my stoma so that doesn't happen again. I bought some skateboarding pads; the kneepads I liked, but they gave me a Huge Bulging Crotch sticking out of my side. I tried a wrist brace/pad, and it sort of works. It puts pressure directly on the bag and I'm not sure I like that, but it's what I'm using tonight.

So, my question is, does a product like what I want exist? I went to my medical supply store and they didn't think so. If I could just use the kneepads I'd be happy, but I really don't need it to look like I'm stuffing my shorts. I'm willing to just make something, but so far my ideas are falling short.

www.ostomyarmor.com

I use this for mountain biking, snowboarding, trail running, hiking, every day use. The maker is an ostomate himself and offers personalized service. I think it's a great product.

Jason, Congrats on the position! This board has started to slow down, and there are many new Ostomates that need some Guidance. It was an inspiration to me when I first had the operation, and a wealth of knoledge, especially with new products. For many of the new members of this forum, Jason was an inspiration, and wasn't hesitant to try and review new Ostomy products. Once you get locked into a product, you tend to be very hesitant to try something new. With the "New Image" by Hollister Jason actually gave a "Day by Day" review, and opinion of how it held up, the negatives, and positives. Jason, we need more of that. This is VERY hard for the Newbies, as I was, and great for veteran Ostomates as well.
BTW, will any of these belt guards help pants that cut straight across the stoma, without bulging. It would be worth it's weight in gold. BEST!! Mike

Mike thanks for the kind words.. thats why that video is so important for new ostomates to see. It has gone global and amazing how that video is now out there for ppl to understand that there is a whole life out there if you have an ostomy.
I spoke at the 2009 UOAA national conference in New Orleans and part of the 3 day event was new products ... you should see whats out there lol!
As for the belt... I only wear the one I posted. It works great for ice hockey and strong enough to wear under my gun belt. My gun belt is heavy as heck and tight and no issues ... not sure about bulge but id imagine there would be if I had tight clothes on

Ostomy armour is what my six year old son uses as well. I have never tried the product Jason mentions though so can not compare them. I am thinking price may be one big difference. The armour has a belt and the man who invented it, Gordon, can help you customize it or talk to you on the phone to explain it. He is very helpful and like someone else said an ostomate himself who is very active!
Good luck, have fun playing soccer!
