My daughters skin is super itchy and the area where her appliance is is all red (like irritation red, not infected red) and bumpy. She is always itching where the adhesive is.

When she first got her ileo we went through a bunch of bags and the one we use now was the only one that didn't leak. So I want to keep using the same bag.

Any ideas?

Hi Kristen. Smiler

I use a non-greasy barrier cream called Chiron under my wafer. It has the same ingredient as most antipersperants (aluminium Chlorhydrate 2%) and really helps with the sweat rash/itch. Unfortunately it's not available on your side of the Pond but Rae from this site, after researching other products with the same ingredient, has found an antipersperant deoderant that is also water based and has been successful under her wafer so you might want to PM her for more info. I hope that Emma gets some relief from the dreaded itch soon.

Give her a big (((((((((hug))))))))) from me. Take care. Smiler

Hi Kirsten,

I think perhaps the rash and her more recent high temperature and diarrhoea are connected. If she has been feverish then the rise in her temperature may have caused the sweat rash under her wafer. Hopefully her fever has broken and she is on the mend but if you are still worried then a call to her doctor is in order, if only to put your mind at rest.

I do hope she feels better soon.

Take care Smiler
