I have a temp loop ileo which has been working fine. I know that I will pass mucous from my rectum occasionaly, but this past weekend I was passing stool. Is this normal??? or should I be contacting my surgeon about this?

was it solid and formed? It should be toothpaste consistency, and shouldn't smell at all like it use to.

I had a loop ileo done aug 16th and the same thing happened to me the other day. I asked my surgeon and she said it was normal as long as it was not a huge amount and you didn't see any blood or are having lots of pain.

My son has a loop and very occasionally will pass a small amount of stool. It happened more right after surgery than it does now. Mostly he sits on the toilet to pass a clearish odorless fluid 0-3 times per day. He can hold it for a while though and in some ways I think it is good b/c he is still using his sphincter muscels so hopefully they will still be good if he ever has takedown.
BTW, he likes to call this "butt stuff". Gotta love kids. Laura 7 y.o. son with CD -colectomy at age 3 with end ileo -IRA with loop ileo 8/08 remicade/elemental feedings |
