I just had my j-pouch excision on May 6th and now have a perm. Ostomy and new barbie bum. I have been having a lot of trouble controlling the pain of my healing bum. It is still leaking what appears to be pinkish mucous(which I assume is normal?) and it just really burns/stings in the early hours of the morning. I change up the pads surrounding it every couple hours and use barrier cremes and first aid ointments. Any thoughts? I am running out of pain meds tomorrow and have only been home three days. I am planning on calling for more meds because this still feels far from resolved in the pain department.

Marcene,
That part takes a LONG time to heal- trust me! I'm 9 weeks out this past Tuesday, and I was FINALLY able to climb onto my bike and ride this past weekend! I didn't put anything on down there (creams, ointments, etc.) Use the pain meds/anti-inflammatories (tylenol, advil, etc.), and take lots of baths. Give yourself LOTS of time for that part to heal- I had discharge until probably 5-6 weeks out or so. //Todd Step 1 - 2/8/05 Step 2 - 5/10/05 Reversal back to permanent ileostomy - 3/11/08 ** I Love Food. ** AIM/YahooIM: Br8knitOFF |
