high performance wafers - help!!

hello,

for all you exercisers our there...i need some advice on high performance wafers and pouches.
i have had my loop ileostomy for just over three months now, and chose to put off my take down surgery until december because i was so relieved to be feeling better. now that I'm back to my original weight and activity level I've started doing yoga/running on a regular basis. my problem is that all the activity and movement (and sweating!) causes my wafer to loosen and threaten to come off almost every time I'm physically active. I don't want to have to change my wafer every time I exercise - that would frankly expensive and incredibly not fun. I'm hoping that you will have suggestions and/or comments. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to be relegated to waiting until January to get back into shape.

Thank you!
JMC

I use ostomy glue called "osto-bond". Even if the tape loosens around the wafer (which happens more often if I don't wipe my skin clean after each change with barrier film remover), the glue is so strong that the wafer itself really adheres to my skin and I don't have any leaking.

Hi JMC,
I had an ileostomy for 29 years and used a wafer that worked wonderfully for me - they are a little more firmer than other wafers and really extended my wearing time. You might try them. I did a quick google search to show you exactly what they are called & look like:

Cymed. Their pouching system is a big fav among athletes. They are a bugger to use unless you can be absolutely dry while applying them, and they require a clip closure, but the microskin is completely waterproof and a dream come true for a lot of ostomates.
