Hi all,
Haven't been on in quite sometime, Hi Shell, sammy2toes,toddl,6m$s,Holly and to others I'm sure I'm missing. I have had 0 issues with my ileostomy and pouch set up for atleast 2 1/2 years. Just had my 3rd anniversary of my permanent stoma and pouch removal, 7/5/06.

About a month ago I started having leaks, skin issues and pain with a bulge that moves in and out just above my stoma. I thought I had a hernia. I went to clevland clinic and saw Dr.lavery, my origional surgeon was Dr. Fazio whom I really like but he wasn't available. Dr. tells me I have a dilitation of the end which is an obstruction.Something is choking my intestines, Dr. says this may or maynot be caused from the chrons, I scheduled surgery for aug 11 at cc in ohio. I'm off work today because I was up with a leak last night(2am) and was just to tired after the clean up and change. I start work at 5am.

I was happy with the function of my stoma prior to my recent problems that started about mid june. 5 days was an average for a appliance change and could go 7 if need be. How disapointing now I get 1 maybe 2 days. I cannot use the moldable wafers that i really like anymore because of the stoma change.

Hoping all is well to anybody who reads this...

glad you are doing well, despite the recent setback. hopefully the experts at the Clinic will be able to resolve whatever is causing the issue and that it is minor.

Hi Don,

I'm really sorry you are having problems. Did your doctor say whether you will require corrective surgery? Seem to me that you might just need a stoma revision.

Hope you get a solution soon. Keep us posted.

Take care

Hello, Update,

I had surgery on 8/11/09 to remove a small mass and no longer have a end/loop, I now have a end ileostomy but am having a difficult time with wear time, 2 days at best, I will see a wocn at clevand clinic on my follow up appt.9/16 for my most recent surgery. I should be back to work 9/21. Take care all....
