So twice in two days now I have changed thinking I was starting to leak. I was experiencing a "bubbling" sensation under my wafer. I thought for sure the seal has been compromised and output was working its way over my skin. Both times I have discovered perfectly clean skin once I removed the wafer. Confused Keep in mind that the sensation around my stoma for the past 4 years has been almost non-existent. It has only been in the last year that some feeling has started to return. Could this feeling be nerve regrowth? Overall my skin is healthy as I have been changing often to avoid leaks. I just have some redness from frequent changes.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Tricia,

I have no personal experience with this, but I wonder if you are feeling the peristalsis (spelling?) -- the stoma moving as your intestine contracts. Maybe since you are just now regaining sensation in that area, it feels like bubbling. Just a thought.

It actually feels like it is located to the upper right of my stoma if you were looking at it. This happens to also be right on top of my vertical incision from my emergency pouch removal. I wonder if my scar is "talking"??????

Hi Tricia,

I used to get that bubbly feeling in my bum when I had the fantom farts. Not sure that it applies here though. Smiler

I think you are right and that it is that you are super-sensitive to sensations now that your nerves are growing back. I do get a tickly feeling if Wee Willie is about to blow a raspberry so maybe it's what you are feeling too?

Cool Shell Cool

Hmm - scar farts? It has a nice ring to it. Razzer

The best I can describe it is when you watch your stoma and you see gas bubbles pop - It feels like that. For now I am just putting up with it and I will see what things look like the next time I change.
