i just saw a dermatologist who was talking about these things...he says that some of his older patients use them and that they are hard to find nowadays...he says they use them when the skin is so excoriated that nothing sticks to it anyways...i would imagine that if you could use adhesives of some sort it would be better tho- i think a silicone seal would not be enough to stop leaks if you had really liquid output, and with an ileostomy it is so acidic too...but if you had a colostomy that you irrigate to get the stool out then it might be a good idea...if i had one on and went to bed i would definitely have leaks too because i toss and turn in my sleep...i wouldn't want to play sports with it either. i guess if i had a skin problem where the wafer would not stick anyways and the area was really sore and sensitive, then it might be easier to take off that sort of wafer. very interesting that they make these tho- i never dreamed they could make one without glue!
take care
