when you have a ostomy do you have too where baggy clothes? can you see the bulge of the bag?I'm having temp illeo surgery Jan 5, any advice or helpful tricks would be apreciated. thanks
No you don't have to wear baggy clothes--you think you do but that's only you. Just tuck that back in your jeans and no one will ever know you have one. I found if I wore the ostomy belt I could wear tight shirts too! I was always conscious of my bag but REALLY no one would ever know unless they were told. So don't worry -wear whatever you want.
I wore loose pants while everything healed after surgery but I'm back in my pre-surgery clothes now. I wear a tank top under my looser clothes (not needed under my tight clothes) to help hold the bag to my body because otherwise my filter section folds down (just a pet peeve of mine). My co-worker looks at me and says if I didn't know I wouldn't be able to tell.

I wore my presurgery clothes with no issues at all. To be honest, most of the time while I was at home I just left my bag untucked from my pants because it just felt more comfortable to me. I cannot count how many times my fiance had to remind me to tuck it in when we went into a store because I would totally forget about having it (the bag) on..
I agree with what everyone else said. As long as you empty it enough! Don't let it become really full with stool or with air, because that makes it more noticeable.

me too. either really high or practically falling off my hips. i actually cant wear my normal clothes. my jeans are too tight and the waistband goes right across the stoma. the only way i can wear jeans is if i leave them unbuttoned, keep the bag out (but the tail folded under) and put a maternity belly band over the the whole thing. then its is not noticeable at all, just looks like im wearing layers. i keep my bag out too when im at home, and sometimes when im out, as long as my shirt is long enough to cover it. dresses are good too. if you wear an ostomy belt.

omg chris m and sarahtigri im so glad to hear im not the only one wearing my bag outside my clothes whenever i can. my husband has reminded me a few times when we head out. i have been living in leggins, long shirts and boots and it looks good and feels comfortable. last surgery with an end ileo i wore jeans all the time with no problem, this time i have not yet because i have had some issues (it is a loop ileo) and im scared its going to make me leak or hurt) but after reading these posts it reminded me how i use to so this weekend im putting on a pair of jeans. also i noticed to avoid the puffiness i started getting the gas release bags (convatec has them) and it keeps the puffiness down. also if the bag fills with air which is the bigger culprit for clothes more than even filling with stool, i sneak into the bathroom and release the air by opening the suction for just a second. hope this helps

I used to do this in Boston, and found a place out here that's in the same vein of store, called Crossroads Trading Co. I believe they ofer you something like 40% - 50% of however much your clothes sell for? It's also good for shopping - I bought a pair of brand new designer jeans there for $18 once _____________________________________________________________________________ mobile coffee carts | NATURAL HAIR GROWTH | florida printers
