I need advice! I had a temporary ileostomy in 2009 to heal a fistula and abscess. Soon after surgery, I had an emergency prolapse that wouldn't retract and had surgery to repair it. Several months later, when shoveling snow, it prolapsed again but this time it would retract with rest. I lived with it until this summer when it had gotten a lot longer and bothersome, but the abscess had gotten worse instead of better. I decided to get a permanent ileostomy and get the prolapse repaired. This time the surgeon tacked the bowel to the abdominal wall. I have been feeling better than in years and crave spicy foods. The only problem is that the thing prolapsed again, and this time I have been avoiding lifting. It is not to the point yet where it just comes out and stays out. Is there anything that I can wear to hold it in and avoid surgery? I am a pianist and do not need to do heavy work, but it seems just plain living causes enough pressure to cause problems. Sneezing and laughing when watching my Two and Half Men dvds is enough to cause worry. I have a belt from a pair of my pants wrapped around me now under my shirt. Any ideas woould be greatly appreciated. | |||
