Hypergranulated skin?

I recently spoke with my ostomy nurse about some inflammation around my stoma. Turns out I have hypergranulated skin and she prescribed silver nitrate. Anyone has any experience with that? I've been treating the skin for the better part of 4 months, and it gets better for a while, and then comes back again.

Silver nitrate really irritates the skin and it makes a huge mess. It's stained my bathroom in several places Frowner

I use stoma powder on the irritated skin and then seal with 3M skin prep stuff. Any other ideas?

I had the same problems. Since this question was posted a while ago, hopefully you got it under control. I found that if I lay down on my back to attach my wafer, I could get a much better fit around my stoma. My hypergranulated skin was due to the fact a small amount of skin was still exposed around the stoma when I changed my wafer. Also, I wasn't getting the skin completely dry, so while I am pealing back the tape on the wafer to attach, I keep a washcloth over my stoma to absorb any moisture. I hold a hand mirror above me while laying on my back. I make sure to get the eckin seal right over the stoma only, with no skin showing at all. My hypergranulated ring healed right up, and complete success since.
