Are you still having output? Whenever I feel "backed up" I drink some grape juice. If you have no output & start vomiting .. Call your surgeon and head to the ER.

I have output, it just feels like I have a lump in my throat, which I really don't. Maybe I'll drink some grape juice...

Yeah, what Winnie said. If you are having any problems with things moving along slowly, grapejuice can help. How old is your ileostomy? When mine was new, I felt really full on a small amount of food, and felt that same lump in my throat you are describing. It took probably a month or perhaps even two for that to go away, but it did. In the mean time, I made sure I ate small amounts of food.
If you have any concerns about what is happening, ask your surgeon. What may seem like a small deal to us could be important, and what may seem like a big deal may be nothing. A phone call call can set a lot of concern to rest.

I know what you mean...my usually goes away on its own...kind of like a very partial obstruction. What's even weirder then that, is when I feel constipated, I have an ostomy, so how the heck does that happen! Sometimes I just shake my head and laugh! Have a fabulous day!
