Hello,
I just joined this group and wanted to see if anyone had this kind of experience. I had a total colectomy last year and j-pouch surgery(8/06) so it's been a little over a year now since my last surgery. I've always had problem with urgency and went to bathroom 5-8 times/day. Sometimes i could tolerate for a while if i had to but most of the time, having to wait would be very uncomfortable. My surgeon said the frequency is "normal" and things would improve after about a year. But starting a few days ago, I started having this extreme pain in the rectal area whenever gas occurred. I also had fever at night for past 2 days. First I thought I caught cold. But I noticed the stool is very watery now. There's no blood. So I'm not sure if this is pouchitis? Does anyone have any idea? My main problem is with this extreme pain whenever gas moves around. I'm not taking any medication by the way - just some vitamins. |

Hi,
I can help you with the rectual feeling pain. I would get it about once a year and it would come and ago in extreme spasms. Intesify and then pass and it feels like you need to go to the bathroom also gas would cause cramping. When I get sick with the flu or anything my stools become very watery. It's normal for me and then it goes away once i feel better. If you are still having problems talk to your GI and try some antibiotics see if that helps. |
