I've got chronic pouchitis, but I was doing pretty well until my GI doctor scoped me about 3 weeks ago. Since then I have had this feeling of inflammation and some pain when having a bowel movement. It just feels swollen down there. I have had no bleeding and no noticeable increase in frequency and my stools are fairly well formed, relatively speaking. For the first week or two I just used cortifoam enemas, but no improvement. I then started on xifaxan and am almost a week into that therapy and still not really seeing any real improvement. What do you think I have? My GI doctor did mention that when he was in there, he saw increased inflammation over two years ago, so he did a bunch of biopsies. I don't know if I am just inflamed as a result of something he did while he was in there or what.

The trauma of scoping can cause increased inflammation, so that would be my guess. However, three weeks is an awfully long time to have scope related inflammation.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
