Hi, I started having pouchitis about 3 years ago. First time, symptoms included many "leaks" at while sleeping, urgency and a feeling of not emptying. I took Flagyl and within a week it cleared up. Now I'm having 1-2 "leaks" a night but no other symptons. Dr gave me Flagyl again for 3wks with no change in leaks at all. I have no other symptoms and feel fine except for the leaks. Imodium doesn't always help. I had a flexsig with little inflammation everything else ok. I'm having to sleep in another room so as not to disturb my husband's sleep. Is this something else....other than Pouchitis??? Please help!
Susan

Is it possible you have an anal stricture? Sometimes this is missed if the doc does not do a digital exam before the scope. Plus, "a little inflammation" should not be dismissed. Some people are very symptomatic with only mild inflammation, while others can have major inflammation with no symptoms.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

I edited this post after seeing from your older posts that you've been treated for cuffitis, and that Mesalamine did not help.

In this older thread, I mentioned some articles on pouch function over time (up to 20 years):

Continence tends to get a little worse over time, although this could be due to the normal aging process.

I had this happen end up being a partial blockage at the end of the j pouch rectum area.

I ended up with having my whole j-pouch redone not to scare ya but make sure you do not have a partial blockage get scoped etc.

It took them over a year to find this problem...I used to leak bad every single night and I mean every night boy did I hate it..I hate that I have to go through it all again but atleast they found the problem.
