Thank u 4 the answers so far. I am getting a 2nd opinion from someone who has more experience. My current dr (who is new after I changed to him when I started bleeding so much from pouchitis that I had a 6.6 hemoglobin and needed a blood transfusion) has had only 1 patient who ever had this. He prescribed the oral steroids which he said are a topical steroid after looking it up on the internet while I was sitting ther wiht him in his office! I think I would be incredibly stupid continuing to go to a doctor who is not a specialist when I live in NYC where there are several drs who know more. I was on steroids for uc for 8 years as a child and in my 20's 4 awhile. The emotional rage attacks and suicidal feelings are not something I want to deal with if I don't have to. So I am going 4 the 2nd opo. Flagyl has been great 4 me. I will watch out 4 the side effects
