After years of chronic pouchitis, my last scope apparently showed a generally healthy pouch (although there was apparently a small patch of inflammation and a small ulcer). My pouch still doesn't empty properly though, although that may be down to a long-term stricture (I'm getting yet another dilation booked for that). Still, I'm feeling a bit more positive after that.

Hi Mike congrats!

This is tam74 but had to change login etc.
Are you on antibiotics right now?

No - just VSL#3 - 2 sachets a day. I occasionally go on a short course of flagyl if things are getting bad (or if I'm about to go on holiday) but generally I'm antibiotic free.

Great news for you!

After my wedding I plan on trying a full dose of flagyl or something (i have burned out most antibiotics) and I am going to try the high dose vsl 3.
How did you go about doing the change over? Is this the first time you tried the vsl? I have tried it before to no avail.

Tam x

I think I may have started on the VSL shortly before stopping the flagyl treatment.

It's not the first time I've tried it - I've been on it a year or two now. I'd consider trying it for a while - especially if you're not having to pay for it. In my case it's not worked as any miracle cure but it does seem to have had a positive effect over time.
