Can Rowasa cause irritation/bleeding?

I have been using Rowasa enemas for 1.5 years to control my pouchitis (2 oz. at bedtime). It is working wonderfully. No problems in this time period. I have however, seen a small amount of blood in my stool (actually on the tissue)twice in this time period. Could the Rowasa be irritating my pouch?

Doubtful. More likely is that you are just having a bit of relapse that is not getting full blown. Remember, nothing works 100% all the time with IBD. With that scant frequency of minor bleeding, I would not give it a second thought.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
