Has anyone ever had any pain up and down the left side of the abdomen - starts under stomach. I don't have any other symptoms, even going to the bathroom less than normal. Is this pouchitis? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Rib,
I used to have it all the time. I think it may have something to do with the nerves that were effected during the removal of your large intestine. Perhaps it is the scar tissue aching and resonating pain to your left side. it is now 5 years since my; UC surgery and the pain in the left side has gone away. Although I have been taking narcotics for pain for the whole 5 years. If that doesn't get rid of pain I don't know what will. Hope this helps.

thanks Rick! I'm hoping that is all it is. I am so paranoid. Had my takedown 4/17/08 with no problems at all so I think I'm waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop. Seeing the dr. on Wed. just to ease my mind. I think I'm suffering from post traumatic takedown!

Thanks again -

Probably just adhesions pulling. With time they should soften and relax. But you never know, it could last a long while.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
