I recently had a scope done for the dialation of a stricture and the doctor said I had pouchitis. He perscribed Canasa for me. Prior to using the Canasa I had discharge that was a pink-color mucus discharge (I have a temp ostomy) and now it has turned to a blackened coloration. Is this normal for Canasa? The doctor said to continue as long as i didn't have any other symptoms. Anyone have a similar reaction to Canasa?

The darker color can be from both the Canasa and from the old blood that may be turning dark, but yes, this can be normal. It is unusual to order Canasa for pouchitis, usually it is for cuffitis.
Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |
