I've read that wild oregano oil is the most potent antibiotic available (naturally). Do a little research on brands, how to dilute etc. before using it. It's supposedly as strong as vancomycin. If you're interested, look up Jini Patel Thompson for more information on treating IBD with this.

I am currently treating my gut with wild oregeno but mine is in a capsule. Wont know till monday if its pouchitis or Chrons It is a delicate balance as wild oregeno will also take out the good bacteria so a.m. and p.m. i do probiotics and afternoon hours i do oregeno oil and things r being kept at bay. Do alot of research and I also agree to look up Jini Patel Thompson Good luck

just curious, why the 2 week limit? Is it due to side effects...i would really like an alternative to antibiotics if possible and may try the oregano.

In the research I have done it is not recommended longer as it is supposed to b the equivalent of vancomycin. On a side note I did add colloidal silver last night and saw results in one hour. Loose stools gone, i will b sticking with the colloidal silver for a bit as it is much gentler on the sytem

Garlic exacerbates pouchitis for me. I don't eat onions or garlic. They really give me trouble. Plus they make my pouch contents stink to the high heavens

My GI Nurse suggested Grapefruit Seed Extract and Colloidal Silver. It is important to come off of these just like we do the antibiotics. Something else that I have been benefiting from daily is Mangosteen by Genesis. It helps with Inflammation and really helps with my BM not being gasey. I buy all of these products at a nutritional store. Here in San Antonio, Texas I get them at Cost Plus, Sun Harvest, or HEB. Hope this helps someone.

I could be wrong, but I believe garlic is a prebiotic which promotes the growth of probiotics. On the other hand, garlic stimulates gas, so I can definitely see how 2 cloves could cause problems.
