How would a Canadian go about getting an apointment at the Cleveland Clinic. I read so many good things about it here that I am interested in getting an opinion from there. Any idea of the cost for a consultation. Who would you suggest. My story is pouch 2002, cronic pouchitis for 2 years, 1st mild last year severe. Have narrowing in the pouch and severe perianal desease. Surgeon feels that I have Crohns and in Toronto here they will not do the kock pouch is Crohns is suspected. I would really like to have a shot at a kock pouch if I have to loose this one. What doctor there would one suggest to deal with this specific problem. I have read on the posts that they do kock pouch's with Crohns. Please advise ASAP. It is going to take me until at least September to get OR time here in Toronto to drain the abcesses and stitch fistula. Don't know how much longer I can go on in this mess and pain. Please advise. Go to the Cleveland Clinic website (just type in Cleveland Clinic and it will come up). If you go under make an appointment, you can type in your information and they will call you back, (I think within 24 hours) and set up an appointment with you. That is how I did it the first time. It is very easy.
I have Dr. Bo Shen. He is a wonderful doctor. He has helped me a lot. He recently gave me an option of the K-pouch, if I wanted.
I would definately get a second opinion. I was going to a doctor locally and decided to go to the Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion, and that really helped me to make my decisions. I love the Cleveland Clinic. It has been well worth going to. If you have any problems or have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Most surgeons will not do K pouches with Crohns. CC Ohio does remote consults, send your records and it is less expensive than flying there.
crohns could spread through the k pouch and if you have pouchitis now, you may have it with a k pouch. I have a j pouch and my son has a k pouch.The web site is

I think that Cleveland Clinic can do a remote opinion for around $500US (which is probably MORE now than Canadian....).

Thanks so much for your responses. I did go the website Cleveland Clinic and Canada and found out that they have a clinic here in Toronto and I have an appointment on Monday. Not bad considering everywhere else I called the wait is 6-7 months. Thanks again and I will keep you posted.
