Hi
I am a new member and this is my first post. I have had a jpouch for 8-9 years. I had a fallpian tube/scar tissue mass removal in January of 2008.
For about five days now I have had pain with bowel movements. I think it may be pouchitis. I have a surgeon, but my gastro doctor is hard to get in touch with and he also does not have alot of jpouch patients, thus not alot of jpouch advice.
My situation is for five days now a great frequency in bowel movements, watery stools, pain and burning in my rectum/lower part of my pouch, and burning spasms and anything I eat shoots right through me. I also do not feel well all over. I feel really hot and tired.

I have a call into my doctor to get a determination of what is wrong with me, but if any of you could tell me what you think it might be that would be so appreciated.

Thank you all so much and what a helpful site this is to all of us.
Thanks

Hi bre,

Sounds like classic signs of pouchitis. Try to get on antibiotics (Flagyl or Cipro) as you can...the faster you start taking them, the better you should feel. In the meantime, you may want to take some Pepto-Bismul. It seems to help with pouchitis.

Does sound like pouchitis. When was your last pouchsocopy? My only question is it seems like you went a long time without pouchitis. In my case it was about 3 years post-takedown before my first bout of pouchitis but has been chronic in the 13 years since then.

If it is pouchitis, as noted above cipro and flagyl should calm it right down.
