I have a BCIR. I usually get pouchitis once a year around the holiday season. This year I had a death in my family and pouchitis seemed to get the best of me. After two weeks of Cipro, I was placed on Carafate solution which I but in my BCIR three times a day. It was not easy to insert but once I got the technique down pat, it seemed to maintain an element of wellness. They told me that Carafate is primarily used for treatment of duodenal ulcers. I would suggest you try it. God Bless - Ellen
