Moving to Pittsburgh, PA area in January and looking for GI / pouchitist specialist. I've had a pouch for 15 years after UC and have had recurring Pouchitis for last 3-4 years. Appreciate any referrals.

I have never consulted with this GI doctor, but got his name through my surgeon, Dr. David Medich.

I left Pittsburgh almost six years ago, but all of my UC/surgery years were spent there. Dr. Lebovitz is good, but my first choice by far is Dr. Howard Dubner at UPMC. He is a GI but I liked him so much that we eventually used him as our Internist as well.

Both are stellar -- smart, personable. At the time that I saw Dr. Lebovitz, he was about to leave on a privately financed around-the-world trip in search of a treatment for IBS for a very wealthy foreign patient! I don't know if he ever found anything, but I'll bet he had fun trying.

PS My surgeon was Dr. Medich, too. Great surgeon.

Thanks to both of you for referrals. I arrive in 2 weeks and will do some further investigation on both of these docs.
