Rebe.
You maybe on to something with the hot weather. I have found that I can no longer work outdoors in the afternoon in the summer. I sweat copously and get so fatigued that I have to get inside. I don't have any problem with my pouch, but just get tired and really sweat a LOT.

I cannot handle heat well anymore either and I get way too hot at night most of the time. I think for me it's always being slightly dehydrated because of frequency issues and fatigued because of vitamin deficiencies. I get really tired/uncomfortable in the heat

I love the heat-the hotter the better-anything below 70 degrees and I suffer. Every year it gets worse.

Both extremes kill me...I grew up in Canada and loved the winters...never had a problem until after k pouch 30+yrs ago...then I could never get my hands and feet to stay warm outside...would freeze...summer is the opposite...my hands and feet swell to twice their size, turn red and blister...it could be dehydration, vascular problems, or any number of other problems...I never figured it out...I just wear 3prs of socks in winter and go as barefoot as possible in summer.

It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....

My husband teases me by saying if it's not 70 degrees all the time then I'm not happy. And he's right! I can't take the heat and I hate the cold as well. Living in NJ, we have a lot of both!

DX UC 2005 when I was 37
Tried every drug and diet....all failed
Step 1- 6/25/10 (colectomy & J-pouch creation)
Step 2- 10/8/10 (take down)
Very pleased with my results.

Heat intolerant. Anything above 80ºF is very unfavorable. High humidity makes it that much worse. However, if it gets too cold I shiver and my muscles tend to contract/tense up and my teeth actually chatter. Given the choice though, I'll take the cold.

Yeah, I don't care for the heat, either, anymore. I remember shortly after my colectomy I told a friend - weird, but I'm not cold like I'd always been pre-colectomy. Now, we're trying to come up with a retirement locale where it's not too hot, not too cold, not too humid - not too easy.

Interesting post....

I find kind more of the opposite to be the case with me. I am much more tolerant of cold weather. While I also seem to perspire quite a bit more in the extreme heat/humidity, which was a record year this summer, I don't less capable or intolerant of heat...

I would add though that my senses may be a little skewed as I've been on higher doses of Prednisone recently to control flares, and this may be a contributor to perceived warmth.

Do not tolerate heat well. Am not good with anything in eighties and warmer. Do much better with cold.

At work I need to have fresh, cool air. As soon as the heater registers 70*, I know it, as I start getting too warm.

thanks for responses to heat issues..i guess there can be other factors besides no large intestine or sure but i guess from the responses of a few of us the missing intestine could be a factor..would be really interesting if more of us responded and said weather or not the heat sensitivity exaggerated after operation..it certainly seems the case for me ..i use to never mind the high heat..

by the way, someone mentioned where to move were its not to hot and not to cold..answer different parts of cal..i live in santa barbara cal.(retired here 11 years ago) and its pretty great all the time with a few exceptions..i understand san diego is pretty ideal too..

I think it might have to do with dehydrations issues. We are prone to get dehydrated quicker than coloned people so our bodies are reminding us to hydrate.

I use to be the one that was hotter than others and now I seem to have cooled down and I'm the one needing a sweater.

California has great weather. We have relatives in San Diego and have visited at all times of the year. They don't have humidity either! Big problem is the cost of living there is sky high and it's population density is too nerve racking for me. Confused

Good winter, freezing cold, escape location!
