Hi everyone!

Well a month today till my wedding!! Anyway, back to business, he he.

In the vsl 3 trials what strength in the packet did they use? Here we only get 3 g (450 billion) per packet and we don't have the double strength you guys talk about, so insurance is never gonna happen.. Frowner

Hoping your all doing well

I think that's the most recent one showing effectiveness against active disease. I suspect the older ones demonstrating effectiveness in retaining remission were with 2 450 billion sachets per day.

Thanks v much Smiler

I am a bit blonde these days and not sure what you mean by 2900 billion equalling 1800 billion?

Here i get 450 billion per pack, and really all i can afford is 3 packets a day 1350 billion, do you think this could work?

I guess its trial and error really.

Thanks again Smiler

I got a bit confused by that myself but MTSTP is referring to 2 sachets of 900 billion bacteria (i.e. total 1,800 billion).

3 normal-strength sachets is relatively high so there's a good chance they will make a difference (all I can get on prescription is 2 sachets a day).

Ah, yes. I see now Smiler

Well I shall give it a go! Maybe one day we might catch up with the rest of the world and get prescriptions and insurance too!

Its super unaffordable!! But first things first and see if it works, 2 packets didn't, but heres hoping (everything crossed)

Hi Tam,

Just thought I'd suggest a slow buildup to the 2 packets...start with 1/2 packet and work up. The VSL 3 sometimes causes abdominal discomfort and adjustment takes a couple of weeks...this is what my daughter did and she's still taking it 1 year later and doing wonderful! Best of health to you!

Start high work low... Spend two weeks on high dose at least 2 or 3 packs a day... let the colony get established back off to 2 then to 1 and you should be okay. I've been doing maintenance with a single 450 billion pack for 4 years and it works like a charm.

What do you all find is the best way to take VSL? I don't mean quantity, but what with/in?

I have tried it with milk, but had to give up as it gave me as much pain as pouchitis, or maybe it was pouchitis? How do you tell the difference?? Confused

I am back on cipro now but would like to give VSL another go..... so how is it best to start, and when?

Jimjones..... Did you have any problems starting high? maybe I just gave up too soon.
Have tried both ways so I think I need some help, if the painful bit is something I can work through.
Thanks.

Marina

I actually mix it in with some applesauce. I buy the little cups of Mott's Healthy Harvest (no added sugar, but some god flavors like Country Berry and Summer Strawberry), and then I mix it in and eat it up. YUM!

I mix my VSL#3 in a water bottle, shake it up by hand and it mixes very well, not a full bottle of water about 8 - 10 oz, You don't want to gulp it down because swallowing to much air will give you gas, It does for me. Hope this helps.(I drink 2 packets a day of VSL#3 DS, one with breakfast and one with lunch)
