I pop xifican along with my vitamins. It looks like I'll never be able to get off of it. I don't even want to try anymore. I guess it could be worse.

I've been on Cipro for four years. I pray it continues to work. I've tried to get off, but the pouchitis always comes back, like the above post, I don't even try any more. I don't mind the Cipro. I'm glad it works, am able to lead a normal life and love my pouch. I also take VSL 3. I know some people say it's useless to take probiotics when you're on antibiotics, but it works for me.

I hope all of you find something that works.

I've been on Cipro and Xifaxan for five years and it's not working as well as it did at first, which wasn't that great anyway. Someone needs to find a cure for this, or a different surgical technique. This is the pits!

I have been trying to get off antibiotics for a couple of months now but after a week of not taking any cipro I find the pain, urgency and frequency start right back up again...

I find that I can go as low as 250mg of cipro daily and I am fine. I stopped taking the flagyl because of tingling in my fingers and toes, but cipro seems to be my friend for now! I am also taking probiotics and hopefully one day they will be all I need. I don't like taking cipro and the thought of taking it long term bothers me but when I am on it I feel great.

Just read the post about fish oils and pouchitis so I'll go today and get some of those too. I am at the point where I'll try anything once.

VSL#3 seemed to make me extremely gassy when I first tried it but I'll probably try it again as I still have some in the fridge and I hate to see them go to waste!

Perhaps if I take two pouches a day like the study mentioned in another post it will help?!

All the best to everyone in the search for antibiotic free pouchitis treatments and keep the suggestions coming!!!
