| Could be. I keep Flagyl on hand and just take it when I feel that pouchitis is coming on. If it doesn't resolve the symptoms, I know to call my GI. Jan

| Is it safe to just start it? I do have a prescription at home as I was having issues last June days before I was going away...so he wrote me a prescription just in case...which I never took. |

| Sure, it's safe. My Rx has refills too, and I always make sure bring it when I travel, especially for travel out of the country. Jan

| Thanks Jan. Really appreciate the advice. Make me feel not so alone in this. Today was actually a better day so am going to wait a few days and see. I did however use some cortifoam cream on the end as some of the cramping was down there...so maybe it's that that's helping. |

| Hi Jan
Was also wondering if I might have pouchitis. I am fine during the day but from about 8pm I getr lots of gas like feeling in my lower rectum anus area that I often find hard to hold in and when I go there isnt much passed. Its a mixture of semi formed to loose and i go about every two hrs with fairly constant gas type pain. My surgeon says its not Pouchitis but he hasnt checked me out as he is in another state.I take probiotics 2 day and aloe vera juice am and pm. IF I take flagl and its not pouchitis is it ok. Do you think this could be pouchitis. Its been here for about 3 weeks but had about 2 days with out it..ug!!! |

| I doubt it. Pouchitis is relentless all day long. This sounds like the typical "food had finally worked its way through and is now causing trouble" that is fairly typical, particularly in the early months/years. Jan

| Hi all, I had my flex sig today which concluded mild pouchitis. I saw the lesions, there were 2 or so white type blobs. Surgeon gave me a script for Cipro but left it to me to decide to take it or not? I'm apt not too since I don't feel out of the ordinary. I had issues a few months back but pretty much feel back to normal pouch function for what is normal for me. I wonder if I don't take the cipro will these lesions go away on their own? He seemed to indicate that they do that? Thanks for your help.
