Hi, has anyone taken more than a 1000mg of cipro a day for pouchitis? I'm currently taking 2 tablets a day, which I think is 1000mg, on the pill container it says 500mg, I figure that's for one tablet. But Cipro seems to be the only thing that has worked for me and because I stopped and started it, it's not working like it used to and I was wondering if taking an additional half or something will work again. I'm also waiting for an answer from my doctor and thought I'd ask in the meantime.

I have been taking 1000 mg cipro and 500 mg flagyl per day for years......don't sweat it. Eventually you will need to switch off to other antibiotics and then rotate.....in my case Xafaxin and Amoxicillin.

I too have been on cipro for about 14 months along with Xifaxin. I have switched from Alinia, cipro and soon to be Augmentin. To date I haven't had any problems.
