Has anyone had chronic pouchitis and then had it go away eventually? I've been on cipro since last summer and was just wondering if chronic means forever or if it might eventually go away.

I was taking Cipro along with VSL#3 from Jan 07 to Nov 07. I then switched to Culturelle (probiotic) and Augmentin (Antibiotic). This seemed to do the trick. My stricture issues are also less troublesome. So no sure if I owe the benefit to Augmentin, Culturelle, the Stricture dilation or a combination. All these changes happened around the same time, so its hard to guage.

I am now taking VSL#3-DS, 2 packs a day and it is doing me very well to keep me off antibiotics.

Good Luck!!
