Ist operation I had 18 k/c/o ulcerrative colitis for 18 years. Then she was operated for Laproscopic IPAA (Ileal pouch anal anastomosis). Her pre operative parameters were normal. She was operated on 05/12/2008 and Laproscopic IPAA was done.Total proctocolectomy done with J pouch of ileum was created and Ileo anal stappled, anastomosis done. 2nd operation: On admission for second operation her investigations suggestive of Gall Bladder calculi on 06/01/2011 incidentally. She was operated on 22/01/2011. Ileostomy closure with lapraroscopic cholecystectomy was done. Pouch Exam/ Pouchscopy as on 23/4/2011 Lower 10 cm of pouch Inflamed and few scattered Ulcercations S/O Pouchetis Proximal ileum examined upto 25 cm- Normal Severe pouchitis with lower 10 cm of pouch(attached to anes) inflameted with few scratted alceration which bleeds also sometime. medicine going on are_ wysoline _30 mg mesacol_2000 od cap becosul_1daily tab folvite_1daily cap ato z _1daily selcal 500mg_1daily sucralfate syrup _30ml daily. what if drugs do not respond, is their any advance treatment available. pl advice | |||

Not familiar with all of those meds (perhaps one is a prednisone-type, one a mesalamine?), but mostly pouchitis is treated initially with antibiotics: usually either flagyl or cipro (or both) initially. I'd ask the dr. about this. Hope she gets this addressed soon. Best wishes. | ||||
