I'm currently on canasa supp. for cuffitis and I'm pretty sure I have pouchitis now. I have some increased frequency and watery stools. Also a little weak and sore. I was having low grade fevers too. But my main question is about the incontinence. It was already a problem but not too severe. Ever since I've had pouchitis symptoms it is a lot worse. I've woken up to quite a mess the last two nights. I even had some leakage during the day. Is this common with pouchitis? I'm hoping that is the reason why because it is pretty bad.

Hi ,
I kinda hate to write because my news is not good. I have chronic pouchitus. I have it currentley under contol with Cipro but have to take it twice a day everyday.I have had my pouch now for about 5 years. My incontinence has continually gotten worse. Right now no problems during the day (Maybe an occasional ooze) but nights are horrible. I have tried everything and nothing has worked for me. I have to get up and change (sanitary pads) and clothes sometimes twice a night. Its really frustrating because I am up bathing at night instead of getting much needed sleep for work. Maybe someone else has some ideas for us but Im kinda at my wits end. I am getting closer and closer to the ileo decission. From what I have heard other people are happy that way. Good luck. Please let me know if you come up with anything.

My experience was different, as soon as the antibiotic kicked in the leakage stopped,no pressure in the pouch. Stay hopeful. I finish my course August 1 then a scope the end of August to see how it looks.

I found that once the antibiotics started working, things really settled down and I rarely have any 'accidents' during the night. Actually, most of the time I can sleep right through the night now.
