Always the dilemma: how long to wait before assuming it "is" and starting Flagyl. Only two bouts of PI in 7 years, and symptoms were not exactly consistent. For the past couple of days: periodic abdominal pain and pain "just inside" when emptying (this happened with the first bout but not the second). General fatigue (so what else is new); no increased frequency yet. Maybe some blood, but can't tell whether it's blood or color from tamales. If I don't know whether or not it's PI, I don't expect anyone else can guess, either; so I guess I'm just whining. For newbies, it's not me, BTW, it's my now stoic, somewhat uncommunicative teenager.

Oh darn it!!! But isn't this the time of year when things crop up for Thomas? I'm thinking you need to move over this way and see if that helps.
I guess you know the drill to finding out if it's really pouchitis - a scoping. I'm also sure that Thomas would love to have just one more procedure.... kathy *********************************************************** Lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it's been..... Grateful Dead |

My experience with teenage boys is that if they tell you about a symptom, it is likely worse than they are letting on, because if it was insignificant, they would just blow it off. But, the fact that he does not have increased frequency does not lean toward pouchitis...yet. There's a flu virus going around that causes abdominal pain, fatigue, malaise, and fever. I know, because I had it about a month ago. Maybe it's that.
Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |
