Ok, so I have been on Cipro aprox. one month and am tapering prednisone related to a severe case of pouchitis. Down to 10mg. Yesterday i went out to eat at a mexican restaurant and I was so sick all night long. I have been feeling so well and now this I feel terrible. I am exhausted, been up all night, and I want to sleep but I can't. Just wondering if anyone else made this correlaton or if I may have got some bug. I didn't get too crazy with my food choice...all I had was fajita chicken and cheese soft tacos and some chips and salsa...being very careful not to get any big peppers or anything from the salsa! Maybe not careful enough! Ha. I guess anything is funny when you are sleep deprived.....Anyone out there found this to be a bad option for food?

Sometimes I can tolerate spices, other times not. I have eaten at kabob places with limited issues. If you've ever eaten Afghan kabob they have spicy sauces!
The last few times I made tacos at home I swore I would never make them again. I have been to our local family owned Mexican place and had the chicken burrito with no problems. I have decided that it depends upon what else I eat that day. I have also decided that using probiotics and digestive enzymes help. But, if you're feeling that poorly, maybe your body is trying to tell you something! Everyone is different, what they can tolerate or not. |

Mexican food makes a lot of people I know (with colons) "run for the border" - creating a little bit of distress. I know peppers and onions do it to some people. Maybe it was the cheese.
I am not sure if you are taking any probiotics and/or digestive enzymes like Shelby mentioned. I know antibiotics and prednisone mess with the good bacteria that help in digestion so maybe that's something you need. Regardless, I hope you are able to figure out what the trigger was and are able to eat foods you enjoy without problems. When did you have your j-pouch surgery? In the beginning I had to be careful what I ate and added things on gradually. I had my 2nd surgery August of 2005. I can now eat just about anything except Milk, cheese, creams, etc. Pretty much I have to stear (sp) clear of Dairy products. I can eat hard boiled and scrambled eggs as long as they are not cooked in alot of grease. I must also tell you that I am on this website today because I am attempting to find an answer to my Leaking issue. Therefore I may have to rethink my diet.
