Anyone want to recommend a doctor in Philadelphia to handle my ongoing pouchitis issues? My surgeon, who is fine, is in Baltimore, and is more surgically than theraputically oriented. Looking for someone who is an expert not in cutting, but in treating the side effect of a pouch.
Thanks. |

James Lewis is a GI doc who's sees patients at both HUP and Presby (Penn presbyterian medical center). I used to see him at presby for my chronic pouchitis and he was excellent and if you need a surgeon you're already inside of the excellent U of Penn system. I know a lot of people are very happy with a surgeon treating them on an ongoing basis, but to me (like you) surgeons cut and doctors treat. Really anybody in the penn system is going to be above average, but anybody at hup or presby will be good-great.
