I have been treated for pouchitis since January. I was on Flagyl for eight days and that seemed to help but a week or so later still had problems so went on Cipro 500mg 2times a day . This stopped most pouchitis symptoms but there is a lingering problem. I have severe pain in my anal area especially when I sit down. During the night when I am sleeping I have no discomfort . When I sit down for morning coffee It immediately starts building up the pressure. I feel like I have to go even if I dont. The pain continues mainly when sitting the rest of the day.
I went back to Surgeon yesterday. He scoped me and said pouch did not seem inflamed but there were hemmroid type things that may be the problem. He has me on a Hydrocortisone cream but I dont hold out much hope that this will fix theproblem. I was doing so good for so long it is really frustrating. Any and all input appreciated david |

Well, it makes sense that if you trouble is hemorrhoids, the antibiotics will not fully resolve your problems. The HC cream should get you on track to better health. Give it a couple of weeks, then get back to the doc if it does not help.
Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |
