I’m about to give up to my battle with athlete’s foot. My left foot has it and it gets really red and very very itchy at night, keeping me from getting a good sleep. I’ve tried several products like ointments and oil with no luck. Now I heard that soaking the foot in diluted vinegar helps? Any info regarding that?

Oh, I know how that feels. I’ve had it for about 3 years and right now, I am just maintaining to not get it back. If you’re interested with natural methods, try teatree oil. Make sure the area is kept clean and dry. Don’t wear any shoes or socks until it’s totally dry. If you are interested with oral medication, ask your doctor about gris-peg. Very effective. Make sure you discuss this further with your dermatologist first, though. Once prescribed, you can get it on any pharmacy out there. Hope this helps!.

Hi guys,
I am not a man but I do know about athelet's foot!! Ask your wives/women aquaintences if they have any of the ointment left over from a yeast infection. I cannot think fo the name of any of then right now. There is a 1 dose pill that women get now a day. For a lesser strengh version of these meds, look in the athlete's foot section and it is a cream that cost around $20.00-last time I knew. This is also the best butt burn medicine for diaper rash too. My Grandaughter's behind used to get so raw it would ooze blood. This will clear up a severe diaper rash in about a day and a half. Women's yeast infections, childrens diaper rash and athletes foot can all be cause by yeast!! If Jan see's this I bet she will know the name of the old prescription stuff. Getonthefloor, going barefoot helps because it illiminates the moist, dark area that yeast likes so much. Regular tea, like Liptons will stop foot odor. You just cook and mix like you were going to drink strong tea and soak your feet it. Don't add sugar!! LOL!! Blenda PS: I just came from Walmart and the one I bought is Lotrimin, I bought the no-name for$5.24. I think the kind women have prsecriptions for was called gyno-lotrimin. Still have not really remembered This message has been edited. Last edited by: Blenda, |

If you have tried all the OTC antifungals, then you need a prescription strength type. The vaginal creams are pretty much the same as those sold at the foot care section, but often come in bigger tubes. You can get higher concentrations by prescription.
http://www.mayoclinic.com/heal...treatments-and-drugs It is correct that yeast thrives in dark, moist places, but I do not recommend going barefoot except at home, since that just spreads the fungus around and you can reinfect yourself and others. You are better off wearing sandals or flip-flops when you can. Also, after showering, dry between your toes with a hair dryer set on low before applying the treatment. Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |

I like the hairdryer tip Jan. My husband is bad about showering and just drying off and immediately putting on his socks-he NEVER goes barefoot or with flip flops.

see your dermatologist to prescribe an oral antibiotic. the fungus is in the blood stream so local treatments tend to fail. I had athlete's foot for a while when I was younger and my doc put me on an antibiotics and it helped. No problems again. Forget which one but they should know. Change your socks throughout the day too. Use a foot powder to keep them dry. The dampness keeps it growing. Never walk barefoot in public places. Also keep your shower's floor clean with bleach cause you continue to reinfect yourself. I should have been a doctor.

Treatment of athlete's foot is not complicated, but requires some effort by the individual. vinegar has been used to treat earaches, infections, arthritis, and as an aid to digestion. It has been said that aid in the detoxification of bodily organs and eliminate warts. It is easily accessible, inexpensive and useful for a variety of disorders and conditions. The initial treatment of infection is always supportive and includes the following steps:
- Clean with white vinegar or spray disinfectant inside shoes to prevent reinfection. - Soak feet in a 50/50 mixture of apple cider vinegar and water for 10 -15 minutes per day. Relieves itching due antifungal properties of apple cider vinegar. |

Apparently listerine does the trick too. soak your feet in it...you can keep the basin of listerine for a couple days in a row to make it last..don't need the whitening kind either
Sharon It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here.... |
