Hi there.
I have a few questions about this subject. I know it seems from my research to be impossible... witch kinda sucks. But i was wondering what the limitations exactly are. the repercussions. and any alternatives (other then switch up the "roles") Cause in my search for information all ive found is "Anal sex is not recommended" Also im a bit afraid to talk to a doctor about it :$ Thanks |

This is my website that I just started to help gay people living with these diseases and surgeries to use as a resource. There is very little information out there, and as a gay man who lived with the disease and had the surgery, I think I can provide some answers for you if you'd like. ~Boots |

Well i have had a 6 foot snake camera up my butt so many times that I have lost track.
Also while prepping for the Illeo-Pull-Through I was instructed to have sturdy rubberized plastic phallic inserted in my anal canal, which would be inflated to create a pouch. So as far as putting things in ones anal passage it would seem to be OK. My main concern would be that the wall of the small intestine is so delicate that dry skin could cause an abrasion that will bleed slightly. Always use a latex condom or glove. Always use lubrication. Be careful |

First thing how much rectal canal do you have left? You could do some serious damage to your self. A camera is one thing but if you use something larger and thicker you could be looking at a world of hurt . I did not read if man or woman ,but if you hell bent on doing that ask your doctor before doing something crazy.

@Michael F.
I dont know the exact amount left, i was quite young when having the surgery done, i was about 12 or so.. so not really thinking too much about anal sex at that age. How ever my surgery was for preventative measures from colon cancer, so if i remember correctly they had to remove some of the outside of the rectum but im not too sure :S... I have never tried to do really much anal stuff cause im scared to until i have some more facts about what i can get away with. I would like to talk to a doctor about this, but from what I've heard they seem to have the same generic answer. I may of never been the bottom in my life but i do know i do not have the personality of a "top". If anyone knows anything at all about this subject, especially if you've had FAP.. please post here, or email me if your not comfortable mikomi.kitty [at] Gmail [dot] com |

i WOULD talk to a doctor about it. My GI mentioned it the minute UC was diagnosed; very nice, very cool. I hope you can find a doc who will be able to field that question well. Perhaps send the q. in a letter so s/he can be better prepared to answer?

Having vast experience with incontinence, I can assure you that it is Not Sexy. Period.
If, having anal sex will end up ripping up your anal sphincter (yes, is it can happen) or worse ripping your pouch up...I don't care how much you love or are loved...When you are incontinent the sex appeal will wear thin... You may end up with worse...a Barbie butt. NO anal sphincter at all, no opening. So investigate to your heart's content but be Very Careful. Take things easy and take things slowly. Do not put your sphincter or pouch in danger for sex or love.(j pouches without control are a real pain) Your body is yours for life. Take good care of it. Sharon It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here.... |

Sorry to hear that life has dealt you a hand like this, friend.
I really hope that you do talk to your doctor. Even if you just get a useless generic response, it never hurts to ask. What have you got to lose? It's embarassing, sure, but your doctor is the highest level of healthcare professional, and gets embarassing questions all the time. There will be no judgement, and it's 100% confidential. This is clearly important to you, and so you must get past this fear. The question of how much of your rectum you still have is critical. If you have the whole thing, then you're probably good to go. I have none of mine at all, and before I left the hospital I was told in no uncertain terms that there is an EXIT ONLY sign down there for anyone but my surgeon. If that's the case, then I fully concur with the above post from skn69: it's just not worth it, period. I'm not gay, but I'm terrified of what might happen in the unlikely event I ever get raped. I doubt it would feel pleasurable for the receiver, and it probably wouldn't even feel pleasurable for the insertive partner (or at least very unconventional). I'm not sure if this is an option for you, either personally or financially, but have you considered sex-change surgery? Normally my personal feeling is that such a procedure is cheating nature, but in your case it might just be ideal. You can be a bottom far more safely this way, and likely more pleasurably, too. I'm certainly no expert on any of this, but I hope I've given you a few things to think about. Good luck! This message has been edited. Just a little side note from a Barbie butt...I have a k pouch meaning a J type pouch with an abdominal stoma. One of my greatest fears is someone forcing something 'too big' into my stoma and tearing it. I cannot imagine actually wanting something other than the tube necessary put in there.
Too fragile and precious appendage and too painful a thought. Cherish your poor little pouch...it may be a pain in the a-s but it is the only one that you've got! Sharon It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here.... |

I'm a 39yo gay male and I wasn't scared to ask my doctor's anything. . .here is the information I gleaned from them:
The risks: 1) you might rip away the attachment of the pouch to the remaining rectum, which would require immediate hospitalization and probably surgery. 2) the small intestine is not as elastic as the colon, so you risk trauma to the pouch 3) You have a very high risk of becoming incontinent. However, when I pressed them further, they admitted this is just their best educated guess as there is very little information/research to back up the risks. I have been working with my doctors trying to get a study/research project moving on this, as I think there is a lot of misinformation and guess work that needs backed up with facts. For now though, I'm happy abstaining. . .sort of. I'm 100% bottom, so this UC crap (pun intended) pretty much killed one of the few things I was really good at. First UC flare: 11/4/08 Admitted to hospital: 11/10/08 Total colectomy: 12/10/08 J-pouch construction: 3/10/09 Takedown: 8/19/09 |

Thank you for continuing to try to find a solution. Since this is relatively new surgery, I don't think everything is known about what is or is not appropriate. kathy *********************************************************** Lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it's been..... Good God, why would anyone want to have anything shoved up there. If you're on this site, you've probably had enough anal trauma already! I'm not gay, so I can't really know what you're going through, but I would also recommend not to have anal sex. I'm sure there are other things you could do. But hey, if you really want it that go for it!
