Hi guys, stupid question (I'm goin to find out for myself, but I have to wait until business hours on Monday and I can't wait until then) but how much did this surgery cost you? I know it's different for everyone, but at least I can get an idea? like the surgery itself, hospital stay for a week, etc....all comes out to how much? Is it beyond $100,000? thanks

I get the "bill" before it goes to the insurance. The first surgery was around 56K, the second was 38k, and I have not seen the bill for my takedown. I imagine 100k is a good ballpark. My out of pocket for all 3 will be $900, so no complaints here Smiler.

I had my surgery in two steps, and I believe EACH surgery ran about $45,000. My out of pocket expenses wound up being about $75 total (I paid more for the prescriptions afterwards than I did for my actual hospital stays)

GymGuy,

I have insurance which picked up the vast majority of the cost of my surgery. The 1st surgery between the surgeon and the hospital stay, etc was about $120,000.

2 step with a total of 30 in the Hospital cost right at $160,000 before the in network discounts which took off right at 50k I think my part is going to be around 50k I had 7k detuctable and out of pocket. I only have a $150.00 per quarter lab fees which has really messed me up. If they give me much grief about paying them quickly it might force me to bankrupt which is not what I would want. But I am cancer free, colon free, and alive!!!

My cost for 7 days inpatient for 1-step, one night for blood clot in leg, 12 nights for presacral abscess- $0. That was for plan hospitals in my Kaiser HMO. Didn't have to pay for TV either. But, we do have to pay $700-800 per month for our premiums.

It all depends on what your health care coverage is. Unfortunately, there is no one health care system here.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
